About the Palm Springs Aerial Tram
The tram is a tourist attraction in the North end of Palm Springs that offers two rotating tram cars, actually the two largest rotating tram cars in the world.

Getting to the Palm Springs Tram
When you are in Palm Springs the trip to the Palm Springs Tram Valley Station where the tram begins its climb up the steep San Jacinto Mountains is located where most visitors arriving by car drive pass the Palm Springs Visitor and Information Center at the corner of State Route 111 known as Highway 111 and Tramway Road you simply turn towards the steep mountain and drive up from 400 to 700 feet in elevation to the base station at 2,643 a natural Chino Canyon Cone and winding road for 2 miles until you reach the base station known as the Valley tram Station.

Once you exit your car you are going to be walking up a steep incline towards the station center, along this walk you will pass one of the 2 original tram cars that carried many people up the mountains to the Mountain Station since 1963. Once inside the wonderful Valley Tram Station there is a food court, gift shop and picture taking area.

Buy a Palm Springs Tram Ticket
Buy a ticket for the tram ride and wait for the next tram car usually they come down and arrive up at the top every 20 minutes. Each Tram Car holds 81 persons, this includes one operator.

So you do not need to plan your trip or make a reservation these cars run daily from the morning and into the later evenings all year around except when the annual scheduled maintenance is performed on the 5 towers massive rotating cars and their cable suspension systems.

First car leaves the Valley Station at 10:30 AM daily and the last car up to the Mountain Station leave the Valley Station at 8:00 PM

Tickets are Adult around $22.00 dollars Children around $15.95 (3 to12) Seniors (60+) around $20.95, add a ride and dine ticket for an additional discounted fee when you purchase your tickets. (no pets)

Once you are nearing the boarding of the tram cars you will have your picture taken with your friends and family for you to have the option of purchasing when you descend back down the mountain and into the Valley Station.

The tram cars rotate so it is important that you get a window area, This is not difficult to achieve because each tram car has a 360 degree window surface area, however there are no seats, the floor within the tram rotates not the outside so you are going to be standing while crossing over 5 giant cable suspension towers for about 20 minutes at 18 to 24 miles per hour, all while climbing the cables to the top of Mount San Jacinto.

Once you step out of the Tram Car and onto the Mountain Station platform you are embarking into nature at its finest, but as a reminder the temperatures are much colder as you are now at an elevation of 8.516 feet.

Things to do at the top of the Palm Springs Tram
Lets start by enjoying a view from the viewing platform out across the entire Coachella Valley to its farthest end is the giant man made salt lake named the Salton Sea about 45 miles out from where you are viewing from.

There are 2 restaurants Peaks Fine Dining and View Pines a simple dining a buffet style where they serve to your tray the items you wishes as you slide your tray along viewing all of the wonderful foods the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway Station offers. Next there is a fine dining and cocktail lounge, Logic’s personal favorite that offers fine foods delivered with class and style with a featured great view across the flat desert floor below.

Take a nature hike to the peak of the tallest point on Mount San Jacinto with an overall elevation of 10,834 feet,

So you are aware if you are an experienced hiker you can ride the tram up or visa versa and hike down or up from the tram stations.

Take a hike with an experienced hiker on one of the parks nature tours, there is no charge for these guided tour hikes.

Cross Country Skiing & Snowshoeing at Mount San Jacinto
Up and outside outback from the Tram Mountain Station there is the Winter Adventure Center that rents the equipment to enjoy snowshoeing and cross country Skiing

Camping in the San Jacinto Mountains
Not really a Logic thing but you can and do see wild animals when it is quiet up in the colder climate and usually snowy mountain top so for this reason camping at the top of the San Jacinto Mountains is a true experience. There are 6 camping areas designated for your health and safely all while not disturbing nature while she works anther finest. The closest camping sit is around 2 miles form the mountain station and the farthest is a little over 10 miles away from the station.
Charges to camp of $5.00 dollars apply.

Helpful reminder
The Palm Springs Aerial tram is located in the Sonoran Desert Region of Southern California and because this is a desert our temperatures while near freezing during season, however come around May through October we see temperatures nearing 120 to 127 degrees.
