I think it was Coca Cola or IBM? that first began not using the www. before their CocCola.com or IBM.com.
It was about 15+ years ago when companies began using www.theirname.com on their printed materials and about 8 to 10+ years ago when this drop the www. before the domain name change began.

We remember that as an advanced technology engineering company we dropped the www. before our name in 1995/1996 and we have never looked back. This is partly because we all want people to remember or web site address or URL’s so the shorter the domain name the better retention.

The first change we have already began to see all through this decade are things like Coca Cola and Proctor and Gamble using different domain names for their promotions like MyCokeRewards.com for one example.

From a marketing point of view using our company for and example we own Viper Logic and we own ViperLogic.com When you have applied your efforts to the search engines being IBM or Coca Cola you can just go to any of the search engines Yahoo, Google, Live, or Ask and type in Coca Cola or IBM and these names are going to some up bringing you exactly what you were searching for.

Finding the Small Company:
As a small company you can do this as Viper Logic has done. In the E-Marketing world you need to apply the same domain name to your web site that is familiar with your clients like Coca Cola, IBM and even this small technology company have done.

Type your name into the Search Engines test:
If you do not find your company under you company name then you are more then likely not going to be found under any other search you perform.
Next you will need to work on, or having someone work on your SEO/SEM (Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing) so that when your clients or anyone is looking for your company by name doing and Internet search they are likely to find you.

Domain Name changes towards the end of this 2000’s Decade:
