What is electronic?
The terminology of all things electronic today, equals a simple “e” like the “e” in the word email known as email, e-mail or the less popular eMail, EMAil and e.mail depending on what you are reading and where on the Internet you are reading it.

Humans have come a long ways since 1961, the 1980’s had a select type of educational and early computer industry types sending emails but for most of us average humans, we did not have email until the early to mid 1990’s utilizing the way we send email as current (SMPT) Simple Mail Transfer Protocol while we receive email in one of two ways the (POP) Post Office Protocol or the (IMAP) Internet Message Access Protocol.

Electronic mail has evolved and taken on titles and names, and though common, they are not as readily utilized as just the plain old word “email”.

Today there are two ways a human can obtain an e-mail or email address.

Way 2 of having an address is through an email account provider some are free others charge a nominal monthly fee to maintain your email address and your account settings and archives; archives are a record of all sent and received e-mail or email correspondences between the e-mail or email address holder and other humans.


How to get an e-mail or email account
An e-mail or email address can be obtained through your favorite search engine such as MSN, Live or Bing, Yahoo, Google or AOL, your local cable or phone company that provides your Internet connection.


E-mail or email
There is logical thinking behind these two ways of presenting the same thing as e-mail or email.
One camp feels that each word or parts of a sentence should be separated by a hyphen as we are mostly familiar with in domain names, consumers see the multiple words and can read them easier.

Camp one feels that the search-engines can best read the words while still aware the search-engine knows these two words belong together.

The second camp feels that the use of a hyphen is not a good thing and it mainly is because a human typing into the address bar of their favorite search engine is not going to type the hyphen, leaving it out would take them to another website generally your competitor unless you own the two domain names one with and one without the hyphen. 


The second camp also realizes that while in the beginning days of search the search spiders or search bots were not as intelligent as they are today, in fact today, the search engines utilize the actual domain name as only a small part of the equation utilized to bring the best (SERP) Search Engine Return Page when a human performs a search as well as being able to separate words such as emailmarketing.com apart from one another.

Logic has expressed this in past articles that in the not so distant future and with very popular brand names today like Coca-Cola you might see the removal of the .com from the printed materials like we might begin seeing on a Coke can.

Logic further believes that while one might want to gather say a site visitors e-mail or email address and their first and last name before opening up or downloading the electronic book, the information should be 100% free.
