Located in region 4.
The county is Los Angeles.
The city has over 116,000 residents living in 24.7 square miles of land area and 0.4 square miles of water area.
The city was incorporated in November 1912.
The city is in Southern California.

Some interesting facts about El Monte, California.
The city is known as the “the end of the Santa Fe Trail” and is located in the region of Southern California called the San Gabriel Valley.

Located only 12 miles east of downtown Los Angeles California highest population center and because the city is also located along the Interstate 10 Freeway that can take you to Hollywood, Los Angeles to the west and Riverside and Palm Springs to the east and the 605 Freeway junction that can take you south into Long Beach and the Pacific Ocean this is an easy stop along your way as you explore cities in California.

El Monte also has an airport for small prop airplanes and helicopters located on 103 acres of area and centered around the El Monte Business District.

First stop on your visit into El Monte as always on our cities of California is to stop into the Museum of city history at the El Monte Historical Museum to learn the history and the culture of El Monte.

Visit the Santa Fe Trail Historical Park
A visit to this park will show you a typical home from the 1900’s as well as the original El Monte Jail and a Conestoga Wagon from that era. For the record the Santa Fe Trail begins in the state of Missouri.

There are 9 other parks located in El Monte as well as the east side of the city is located along side the Los Angeles River but there are park like settings and ecological efforts to explore along the river including natural habitat. Driftwood Dairy
Historic by its own right the Driftwood Dairy is a really great place to visit and enjoy some good old fashion dairy treats a wild designed building and the dairy of El Monte was built in the 1920’s.
