e-Communications for Small Business Part 1 in a series

image

Ok you have just started a business and now what
Logic remembers the exact moment in time over a decade and a half ago when we started Viper Logic. Actually it was not even called Viper Logic then but that is a story for another day.

Before we start this article series is assuming that your business already has a web site and email addresses under that sites domain name.

Growing your Small Business Part 1
We do not want you to take this article about the business you just started lightly, so we are going to lay this out into a multipart article allowing us the space and time to clearly define and explain the important e-marketing tips and techniques of starting your small business.

This article is not about how to start or run a business
There are more resources about how to move your new business forward out on the Internet today as it is. So the need for Logic to offer that type of important advice is not needed, we do not need to contribute to that pool of services.

We are going to target the modern day electronic communications path for any businesses growth.

Growing a business through e-Communications
e-Communications can be anything that places your business onto the internet in front of your potential or current customers. This might include being an active member of the social network world, forums or blogs for your industry.

This e-Communications includes press releases through online article submission services and placing banner advertisements on site or PPC (Pay-Per-Click) advertising on the major search engines. Logic is not a fan of the PPC business model.

This article 1 in our series is focused on the Blog section of e-Communications

Do you have a blog?
While it is important to have a site for your business today even if it is not an e-commerce site where the actual transaction takes place the site should be informative, interactive and push softly the famous potential customer Call-To-Action components.

Your Blog
Next there needs to be a link to your company blog where you regularly share insightful information about your industry, products and services and do not use this blog as a place to only push sells in every post that is the fastest way to loose your potential and current customers. Blogs are easy to set up ands easy to type and add information on daily or weekly bases without the need of being a software engineer or programmer.

Blogs are great for interaction because of the comments allowed after each post your company makes.

Keep the blog fun and exciting otherwise these people will begin to go elsewhere to join other online communities or they might loose interest in you and your business all together.

Where to get your company blog
Starting out this might depend on your finances, there are free blogs just go to your favorite search engine and type in “free blogs” the list is endless, however if you are wanting a blog that you totally control and that resides on your own server like perhaps your web site does, then you are going to need to buy one like Logic did.

When we bought this blog package (from expression engine) it has worked for us and there is a lot more for example this blog package can do but we keep this simple and focused on teaching not hype.
