Domain Names fail to deliver Part 1 of 2

image

A look into domain names from yesteryear
What a great ride domain names have had. That was in 2005, 2006, 2007, and then 2008 hit now 2009 and the name game really took a back seat to the economy.

Domain Name investing is it dead?
No with an explanation, domain name investing is alive and well but like the housing market flipping is perhaps dead and gone. What makes domain name investing work is similar to what makes a house worth its price.

Affordability, location and added features the ability to make the house into an attractive place everyone else would want to live or own, domain names are not any different then housing investment requirements.

Domain Name Pitchman
Those investors that are seeing quite times in sells have began resorting elsewhere
The latest discussion in DNJournal talks all about ccTLD’s (Country Code- Top Level Domain’s) actually lets start with the TLD top level domains can only be a .com.

So all other domain name extensions those endings on domain names we all have seen but rarely seen used for an actual site are what Logic calls all other endings like career ending, business ending even marriage ending, just kidding but rather a .biz, .cc, .info or any country code like .us. We are not going to list them all there are hundreds with more on the way each year.

My name is Logic
Look the .whatever guy that is making claims of great sells in none TLD’s also owns per his own admission, over 30,000 anything but .com domain names and so you can clearly see the motive as to why he would be steering the coals under that fire.

The largest reporting site on domain name activity
The DNJournal that reports about shows they take part in around the world where domain name owners or sellers meet with domain name buyers and the site where they report sells of more then $1500.00 to $2000.00 or more each week shows the sells of domain names and some of these names sell for a lot of money some in the millions.

DNJournal disclaimer
We like and enjoy reading Domain Name Journal it is free and informative they are caring and nice, what we dislike is the over hyped domain name game the members they interview from organizations like T.R.A.F.F.I.C. continue to misperceive readers with. It is the journalist from Dn Journals responsibility to set the tone, we do feel the tone is set to low enough into hyper-domain-name pushing.

What is the domain name slowdown about then?
Look at a name that sells and lets say that 10 or 20 names sell a week trading hands from a seller to a buyer, all looks great until we realize that these are only a few of the several hundred million domain names on the market, in use or parked today.

Domain Name Forums, discussion groups
What Logic does know how to do is monitor traffic to sites and sites like forums for domain name owners and investors has dropped off with fewer the a dozen visitors on a domain name forum at any given time we check shows that the overall interest like all focused investments are down, down for the foreseeable future.

How to buy a valuable domain name
This all starts with knowledge of understanding no different from knowing how much a house is worth before you buy it, domain names have location and they have built in value as well in several ways.

Meet Logic’s domain name knowledgebase Domain Name Logic where we share the best practices to start at when thinking of buying a domain name regardless of whether it is for your personal business or as an investment.

What type of domain name buyer are you?
1- Do you want to buy a domain name and just sit on it waiting for the buyer to come along and offer you a great price or how about any price?

2- Do you want the domain name because you want to make this your business develop the name for the business?

3- Do you want the domain name because you can add PPC (Pay-Per-Click) advertising on it and hope to make money each month?

4- Or do you want the name for a demographic location site?

Coming in Part 2 of 2
Coming up in part 2 of 2 we will share bad domain names and good domain names.
In addition we will explain why it is ok to have multiple domain names for a single site.
Lastly about investing, we will teach you (Logic loves to teach) how to be discipline what to never buy in domain names that you want to build value over time.
