There is still one other water related secret in Desert Hot Springs there are natural hot mineral pools that make good healing and relaxation properties. In fact the city calls itself “California’s Spa City”.


What Desert Hot Springs is all about?
Located in the eastern end of the Coachella Valley a valley the city is surrounded by tall majestic mountain ranges with heights of greater then 10,000 feet.

The City of Desert Hot Springs sits nearest the San Gorgonio Pass that is an opening that allows the Interstate 10 Freeway to go through as vehicles are heading into Los Angeles that is about 2 hours from Desert Hot Springs.

The city does have its share of winds. In fact there is thousands of energy generating wind turbines dotting across the southern end of the city out in the flat desert areas. The city itself sits nestled up against a mountain range affording a visitor great day time and evening views across and down the 45 mile long valley floor.

These winds are some of the steadiest consistent winds in America but these winds are blocked from making DHS too windy because the city is located close to the mountains.

Meet the Whispering Giant a 30 year old sculptor whose technical name is Waokiye. Carved out of a 750 year old sequoia tree the Indian Head stands 43 feet tall.

Cabot’s Pueblo Museum built by Fredrick Yerxa Nellie Cabot that was named by Cabot as “Castle on Miracle Hill”.

This is a must see life time in the works unique house and best described as a working piece of art a true museum of a mans life in the desert that dates back 1913. Today this wonderful 35 room castle is an Historic Landmark. The natural mineral hot springs are located throughout the city at most of the hotel resorts. The mineral properties of these hot springs are the therapeutic and are known to cure ailments as well as these springs are some of the best known ways to relax and enjoy.

There are over a dozen resorts offering the natural spring waters and you are going to also enjoy the location this city looks out over the rest of the 9 cities including its neighbor Palm Springs, California.

The city is located only a short drive from the Joshua Tree National Park and is a great centrally located city to all things nature from off-road tours to exploring the deserts of California you are going to truly enjoy the atmosphere of Desert Hot Springs.
