Located in Inyo County the second largest county in California but with a very small population and the city is located in the Owens Valley low deepest valley in the USA so the valley and the city of Bishop sites in between the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range and the White Mountains. There is a creek Bishop Creek that water from the Sierra Nevada Mountains flows down in through the owens Valley.
The city a community of locals and passer bys is a rock climbers paradise truly so because of where it is located and all of the mountains and rock formations throughout the area.

The city does have one other really unique thing to do in their city or rather from their city it is to go Motor Touring and they offer a map from the Bishop Area Chamber of Commerce at 690 North Main Street that they say have secret scenic roads and locations to venture off and explore by vehicle a neat experience indeed.
The bishop Laws Railroad Museum and Historic Site is a very early California piece of history while you are in town it features California early everything and there is an extensive collection of train equipment and trains of course.
