In 1853 and 1854 this city was actually the State Capitol for of California during the California Gold Rush days and this building a great California historic site and it is located in a California State Park and what is important is that the structure is the only pre-Sacramento State Capitol building to survive.

The city while being inland from the Pacific Ocean is actually connected via the San Francisco Bay and this is where the city, has within it’s boundaries 2.7 square miles of water area.
