California Unemployment reported %
The official reported unemployment is 12% (close enough) yet that number tells such a small and very unrealistic number about our states unemployed because in part California has a very laid back culture that some think means they can live off of the subsidy system or just not contribute to society at all.
California Unemployment actual %
When we at Viper Logic do our economic predictions (our hobby) since 1983 under the unemployment numbers we use a real-time unemployment formula that is actually the utilization of common sense.
Our Unemployment Common Sense Formula
We take the reported number 12% realize the people who drop off of collecting unemployment benefits or give up at the end of these benefits, we look at people over 18 but under the minimum retirement age we moving those, remove another one or two percent for the completely disabled and there you have it 15% +/- 5% as a margin of error.
What we really have then for California Unemployment is 22% to 32% unemployment.
What Logic must also point out is that California has a number one employer it is Cal-Trans and then the State of California is number 2 our thoughts are this, we know that the state has cut work days like so many of the private employers and we know that people especially in the consumption state of glamour California sales persons will not be making money for sometime say between 10 and 20 years.
When you add it all up
With so many out of work and so many more dependant on the State of California from benefits to actual employment and Logic reminding us all that California is beyond broke and not looking to improve in this decade for sure, we are going to weather a storm that is heading our way.

In closing
We at Viper Logic are positive that we as a nation will prevail, we realize that the way that American’s spend must change the way that American’s earn their income will also greatly need to change but in the end one thing is clearly unacceptable by any of us American’s. That good is good enough mentality is wrong, it is so not how America was built and if you should not now, not ever settle for less and here is a great example of what Logic is attempting to convey.
Example:
My friend has a job as a computer technician for a giant Fortune 500 Company he was earning a low six figure income and lost the job due to displacement of the function. My friend goes out gets a job as an IT Professional for a smaller company earning a high five figure income with less benefits and he settles for this. This is the wrong attitude, what he should do is take the job for less if it is all that is available then reeducate himself to advance his career making him much more sought after in the near future.
That is the American way.
