About Viper Logic
Viper Logic is home to mascot Logic as well Viper Logic also holds a vast list of future domain names for the growth of our California Weather Authority project at Viper Names however the weather porject is temporarily on hold while we are building on our Email Marketing product Viper Mailer here Email Marketing.
The inventory is diverse featuring authority sites, product names, services, city business types, banking, coffee, restaurants, shopping, real estate, tourism, wireless, medical and a lot more and how we came about the value of buying domain names started over 11 years ago and the Assistance site was created to help our clients and friends buy domain names for this same reason however what we did not know was that the daily traffic to the site and the keywords the site comes up under would have that many visitors seeking the same researched information that we provided.
The keywords that are most popular in a search to find the assistance site are Domain Name Assistance, Domain Name Help, Domain Name Education, Domain Name Buyers and this site under those keyword combinations has the site placed on some or all of the top 3 search engines on page one (in the top 10) and yet the site like so many of our educational sites does not sell anything although they all do have links to some of our other offerings.

What your Domain Name says about you
b>What is in a name
Names in general say a lot about a person, place, product, service or company so do Domain Names say a lot about you and your company more then Logic the writer here ever thought because we live in a world of opinion and judgment about everything we say or do so we are going to share what we hear, read and what happens to us and the names of our own sites.
Lets vent together a little first about the naysayer you no those with an opinion about virtually everything except for the one thing they seem to lack, the ability to look into the mirror and judge or discredit their own ideas, thoughts or accomplishments. We all have to love those people that have something to say about everything that is wrong with the world but manage to never actually do anything themselves, so if you want my opinion on these people they make the doers like Logic stronger and I can only hope they keep it up because Logic and we hope you our fellow doers thank them for pushing and driving us to prove the naysayer wrong.
Domain Names can sell the reader
Logic belongs to a lot of web site groups and reads a lot of site postings like Tech Crunch is one of our favorites and people like to let others know they are readers or members of their technology information site because they write a lot about the going on in the Silicon Valley of course usually the big players like Google, Apple, Digg, Facebook and the likes because it makes for great interest in their demographics and that makes Tech Crunch cool so rarely do they write about the little start up players (sometimes they do) but you can visit Tech Crunch here Silicon Valley Technology News.
Tech Crunch provides us a good example (we like there site and content a lot) of a domain name that makes sense it is clearly Tech is about Technology and the Crunch is what they tend to do to some companies they write about after they are crushed, actually they do but they crunch into the internal workings of the companies, products or services they investigate and that is more then likely what the Crunch stands for.
Tech Crunch is a very popular site because they report on technology first before other sites consistently and in fact one would venture to say that each Silicon Valley company has an employee assigned to review the Tech Crunch site multiple times daily for their name, employees, products or services because the site is very well known in and out of the Silicon Valley.
There are other sites that have great domain names in our opinion on all kinds of topics however they lack the content, connections, drive and passion of great sites with great domain names so they lay in the dark shadows of the Internet rarely seen or talked about.
If there is only one great lesson for any site out on the Internet today, is unlike the past with a world of over 6 billion people in it with the majority starving to be or be seen so the old saying that is clearly dead and gone is “Build it and they will Come”.
The domain name is only one part of building another look at me, hang out on me, share me, vote for me and buy from me site that with devotion and passion can become anything you can imagine. The domain name is the very first component of beginning an online presence. Viper Logic is a web site development company dealing over the past 15 years with any, you name company and their sites we have learned this, that people really believe in the old build it and they will come and as a reminder of businesses that share this false belief as and industry that really sticks in our minds and perhaps you have seen these types of owners yourself it is the restaurant industry and they really believe in the build it and they will come approach to business and we are not picking on the industry as a whole they just stand out to us more then any other.
Viper Logic like others own a lot of Domain Names
Logic owns over 3000 .com domain names here Domain Name Portfolioand they are .com domain names because we have yet to see any site without it become the next Google or Facebook and when you are small like Viper everything is then you have to put your money towards the best possibility of gaining the all to infamous (RIO) Return on Investment.
What our .com domain name portfolio is for
We build product and service sites from marketing service, advertisement placement to educational sites so that is in a large part to why we have a Domain Name Portfolio to work from.
Put the Naysayer to rest and shut them up
Since we opened our doors in 1993 and some years later becoming Viper Logic we were always being asked why we have a snake as our name and your name is not friendly and bla bla bla, which by the way in our opinion this happens when you are small it seems the critics come out of the wood work, you know the ones we were talking about above making statements about your name because when you are small and new the name is the first thing they know and they associate with you the owner of the name.
Look at John Chambers the founder of Cisco to us it is clear that the (we speculate here not fact found) San FranCISCO Bridge logo on their products are to bridge the gap and shave the San Francisco name down you get Cisco, if you are small like we are and you did that you would be called dump and told “that will never work” because the critics would think that, so you are that however once you have a Cisco sized company and a man as dynamic and outwardly positive like John Chambers is you are not criticized for the name or the bridge anymore if in fact they ever were at all. We would look forward to thinking that they are criticized for not doing this or not doing that but more then likely they are never told anymore that “that will never work” type of statements anymore.
Now visit a small company and their product
Above we discuss Viper Logic and its relationship to a snake and having a non friendly name, so why on earth then would this company produce a product like Viper Mailer an email marketing software years later only to hear more criticizing about having a name that does not match the product as a service that we offer?
Because when you are Viper Logic and something you do is being written about and talked about that you have built especially in and industry like email marketing that by the way we are also criticized about starting the critics say the email marketing industry is not needing another me to product and there are already enough companies in that business.
We are happy to hear all of this chatter because to have any conversation we can get and the best kind is the free kind of talk and write ups because these tough naysayer are helping us grow our product sells beyond what we were thinking we could do when we re released the product in January 2008 after sitting on it since we first released it in 2005 to a few signups here and there.
Look fuel the naysayer we added to the new re release in January Logic our corporate mascot an avatar as the featured CEO and email marketing authority right on the home page here Email Marketing Authority we came under extreme fire from friends and family associates and advisors “those naysayer” who criticized the Quote Ugly Creature End Quote however Logic is still there and we hope to find other reasons to cause people to talk about Viper Mailer for the good and the bad.
By the way our clients who are marketing experts actually enjoy the Viper Mailer product and the results the product delivers and to us it is very important and anti naysayer to be accepted by our clients so we truly thank them.
Domain Names Keywords can you brand them?
Building a brand name with a domain name
It really does matter early in starting a company which domain name type you use because the choice to select a domain name that is a company name instead of a keyword as a company name is very important to the long-term outcome of the company in our opinion. we are talking about a name like PizzaHut.com versus Pizza.com.
When anyone sets out to build a company it is very important to think-out the domain name along with all aspects of starting any business because you and your company are going to be remembered by your name for the most part.
What we are writing in this article today is about how a small company like Viper Logic brands itself to existing and new clients and how we have been doing this for the last 15 years so we are going to share our strategy in selecting a domain name for the company and then for each product allowing us to still retain our basic name which we are known by our clients as Viper today. Our mascots name is Logic and our viewers have began to recognize Logic as the corporate mascot (avatar) for Viper Logic.
In our case for right or for wrong that is what we are to our clients, friends and family and when we did this we were pretty much going to stay with it because the re-branding of any company is especially hard no matter what size the company is so when you are very small like Viper Logic is it is nearly impossible.
Here is how we have managed to hold all of what we are doing together under a single company with a few types of products and services is that we put each product we build and its branding logo with a brief description onto our web site Viper Solutions here Software Developers and Engineering and within this site there are products and services from beach weather to email marketing all the way into domain name educational tools.
This web site Viper Solutions is where visitors that are just out looking around can see what we have built as well as what we are building so the site when you arrive at it offers four pages being the usual “Contact Us”, About Us, “Products” and “Projects” as well as a link to each of these products and projects including our main company site Viper Logic here Software engineering firms
Keyword versus a Branding Domain Name
Within our portfolio web site Viper Solutions one offering is a web site hosting company and it provides from self serve web site hosting and domain name sells to managed web site hosting and for this company product we offer two names for the site. One is the hosting branded name Viper Gate and the keyword domain name applied to this site as a second name using the technical term 301 redirect meaning which ever domain name you type into your favorite search engine you will find us as Viper Gate here Managed Web Site Hosting and under Manged Web Site Hosting here Managed Hosting by Viper Gate.
Building a brand around a a keyword domain name
This is where we really get into a difficult situation because how do you promote to people that if we were not Viper Gate but rather we were Managed Web Site Hosting a company. A good example is answering the telephone as “Good Morning and Thank You for Calling Managed Web Site Hosting because yes we would be named exactly what we offer as our service name which is Managed Web Site Hosting however the human is better to understand the name of a company and not the service you are offering.
Here is a great example and the purpose for this article today as we dive into the actual value of a single word domain name and the word is Pizza and Pizza.com and we are Pizza Hut (a registered name trademark under Pizza hut, Inc. and Viper Logic is in no way affiliated with this brand or its related trademark) a name and brand that spends millions of dollars on each year promoting the Pizza Hut name so do they really want to be advertising Pizza.com where a person looking for pizza goes onto their favorite search engine and types in the search box pizza?
We most certainly would think not they are Pizza Hut and they are known as PizzaHut.com and even when a person goes to the search box on the search engine instead of the address bar of their browser the very branded name Pizza Hut will get them the result they want, which is at the top of the (SERP) Search Engine Results Page and by the way the search engines currently do take a search for Pizza Hut to the SERP for Pizza Hut as well as the SERP for Pizza also return Pizza Hut as the number one spot as well.
So what is the value of a single generic keyword domain name in this case it is “0” dollars and “0” cents because for Pizza Hut to own Pizza.com makes no sense. LOL.
What is a single nondescriptive domain name worth
Hype might be at hand here in almost every case of utilizing a domain name to build on a brand because even with cars.com we think here at Viper Logic about these single word as keyword domain names and about when I want to look for example at a car I generally know that the car I want to look at, and would never type this word cars into a search engine because it is to vague and nondescriptive. I would type in Dodge Viper of course. LOL
When a single word domain name makes sense to Logic
We are Viper Logic and we operate a couple of Viper named web sites that do really well for us and these are Viper Gate as ViperGate.com, Viper Names as ViperNames.com and Viper Mailer as ViperMailer.com these are branded domain names for our products but we would love to own the domain name Viper.com however it is owned by a company not far from our operations Center in the heart of Palm Springs, California and that is the Viper Automotive Alarm Company and even though we wish we had the name, it is part convenience and part proud parent ego and not requirement because we believe and our technical research shows it would have little to no effect on our future sales volume.
We do own a few thousand domain names in our portfolio which are descriptive, locational, product or service orientated and you are welcome to see what we think are good targeted domain names here Domain Name Portfolio by Viper Names.
3 and 4 Letter or Number Domain Names
LLLL or NNNN domain name values
We hope over time to clearly define, track, and resolve what is true, hype, false and possible in the domain name investment business because as we write today we read and see a lot of thoughts, misunderstandings and maybe a little hopeful thinking when it comes to the shape that a domain name can take on.
We are excited to be able to share what is becoming all of the current rage about being the owner of a 3 or 4 letter or number or combined both letter and number combination domain names.
Letter and Number Domain Name Terminology
The “L” in this article reflects being a letter and the “N” reflects a number. If you see a single or multiple “L” with a “N” this means that the domain name is made of letters and numbers within the same domain name. For an example of a letter and number combination domain name we have selected one of our own being 0vl.com from our portfolio of domain names here Domain Name Portfolio showing the “0” as a number and the “v” and the ‘l’ as letters so we would see this as “NLL.com” because when we are on domain name forums or webmaster forums discussing the letter and number domain names that are for sale or have been sold these L’s and N’s are what they use.
Next we are discussing generic 3 letter or number or any combination of that are .com’s only as well these names and or number combinations do not spell anything like IBM.com or Iraq.com or 1800.com or even 123.com but rather just your basic letter and number domain names like 12re.com rrht.com or 0vl.com.
Domain Name Availability
We realize that readers might not be aware of the types of .com domain names that have been purchased already and are in the hands of a third party today where as you could usually just go and buy a domain name from a register for the average 9.95 dollars each.
This means that to acquire a domain name that is taken you will either find it on one of the domain name broker sites listed for sell or you are going to need to contact the domain name you are seeking on your or hire a company like ViperNames.com at their Domain Name Assistance web site Domain Name Experts to do this for you.
Domain Name combinations that are no longer available
The .com domain names that are completely taken are any letters, numbers or combinations are listed here:
Any one charactor L or N.com
Any two charactor LN.com
Any three charactor LNL.com
Any four charactor LNLN.com
Any five charactor LNLNL.com
Even any six charactor domains are almost all taken today or will be in the near future at least for the 6 NNNNNN.com and the 6 LLLLLL.com combinations.
Any single word names are taken.
Most all two word combinations are taken but please note that the two word domain names that make sense and have value are all taken in fact all three word domain names that make sense when put together are all taken as well and these are known as keyword combinations such as one we own “ManagedWebSiteHosting.com” is a good example of and average three keyword domain name.
3 and 4 Character Domain Name Sells
We monitor through the greatest domain name industry sales reporting agency DNJournal.com and from time to time they will show a sell of a 3 or 4 letter and or number domain name like they are reporting this week the domain name R8R.com sold for 2550.00 dollars here Domain Name Sales DNJOURNAL.com but we all need to realize that the rare sale of a 3 or 4 digit domain name is just that it is that a person either needed it so they sought the name out from its owner or they got into a bidding ware on a dropped domain name auction list.
Logic belongs and has a membership in the three top domain name drop companies POOL.com, ENOM.com and SNAPNAMES.com and they all offer the same list of daily dropped domain names however you would need to enter the names you are wanting into all three of these to guarantee that you are going to be in the bidding that follows 3 days after the list of names are tied up with a minimum deposit from the bidding firm which ViperNames.com is one of.
Domain Name Broker web sites
We went online and visited one of the more popular after market domain name selling web sites being SEDO.com and researched 3 and 4 character domain names and wanted to touch on the pricing of these names and you might like to visit this selling site here Domain Name Buyers and Sellers
The problem with SEDO.com in our opinion is a seller is not obligated to sell the name they post so what we have had happen and what happens a lot at SEDO is the person lists a name they own then when the price is the minimum they are asking they just do not sell the name. So the site is used to see what a domain name owner can get without the obligation to sale the name.
These broker sites sell and buy names for individuals and the concept is great for buyers and for sellers because we have utilized SEDO in the past to buy domain names and it is a safe way to do transactions because you buy a name and you put the money into and account then once the name and the money is with SEDO the transaction is completed safely.
We went onto the SEDO site to view the current bidding for generic 3 and 4 charactor domain names and we see that names with 3 letters are offered for a few 150.00 to 4000.00 dollars and 3 letters and number combinations are offered for around 3 and 400.00 dollars and with 4 letters is offered around 100.00 dollars to 1700.00 dollars and 4 letter and number combinations are around the same 100.00 dollars. These are just some rough pricing bids that we observed and like with any name sells it is all up to the buyer to offer enough to actually close the sale so we just wanted to provide a little insight into some pricing for this article.
3 and 4 charactor monetary conclusion
If we are honest about this rage to own any 3 or 4 charactor domain names we first need to realize several facts about these domain names and the hype behind them. Look at the possible combinations of 3 and 4 letters that are possible and then the add the amount of combinations that using 3 or 4 letter and number combinations and we can safely conclude there are more domain names in just these two domain name charactor combinations then there are sites on the Internet today.
So there is no wonder that there is more buyer/seller hype behind these domain names then demand for them. There would need to be a masive site build out of these names in order to add quality and real value otherwise they are just like having a really great 800 number but not having the line connected because it is just a great 800 number with no current use.
Next we also have to contribute to this article our traditional statement that we have not been able to find a single generic 3 or 4 charactor domain name that is popular and well known when doing searches on the search engines and this needs to happen in order to truly verify the actual value besides the obvious value these names do have in that they in most cases are easy to remember because they are short domain names.
