Barstow is located on old and very famous Route 66 as well it is located closest to Fort Irwin Military Reservation as to get to Las Vegas coming from anywhere in Southern California heading to the famous city you will be passing through Barstow because the Interstate 15 Freeway is what brings motorists into Las Vegas, Nevada. Barstow is one of the 10 poorest cities in California and has one of the highest unemployment rates in California but do not let these statistics cause fear in you because there are some really great things to visit in Barstow and we will share them below.

If you like trains like this writer does you will love to visit the Western America Rail Museum and this museum still functions as an Amtrak Station for Barstow known as the Casa Del Desierto built in 1911 as a hotel and train station. This old structure is home to the Mojave River Valley Museum and the Route 66 Museum so you can see a lot of diverse history in this great little city and junction town. The area of desert lands around the city make a great place for off-road adventures like riding ATV’s (All Terrain Vehicles) and you are near the Calico Ghost Town here California Ghost Town where you can get a great education for the whole family because you will be stepping right back into the old wild wild west. There is an ecological rock formation and wild plant habitat just 8 miles north out of Barstow off Irwin Road then onto Fossil Bed Road if you would like to see nature in its natural state this is a true location to carefully wonder around explore and enjoy new discoveries.

The County is Riverside, California.
The city has a little over 23,000 residents living in 23.1 miles of area.
The city was incorporated in February 1913.
The city is located in Southern California.

Some Interesting facts about Banning, California.
Banning is located in the Desert region of California in the San Gorgonio Pass and the weather is extreme like when the wind blows through the pass it really blows as well as the rain and periodic hell storms during the winter time are rougher because of the city being located in the pass.
The pass and the view from this city is of the two tallest mountains in Southern California being the San Gorgonio Mountains and the San Jacinto Mountains and the pass also includes the San Bernardino Mountains.

Near Banning you might visit the Malki Museum features European and Asian art and wonderful gardens to wonder through and right in Banning is a unique to early California travel through the deserts they offer the Gilman Historic Ranch and Wagon Museum and transportation carts from the Cahuilla Indians to the exploration.

Now as far as staying in Banning and venturing out you have the desert areas largest outlets outdoor mall to your south here Desert Hills Premium Outlets Mall and a great snacks of the desert at Hadley’s here Desert area snacks as well as the Casino Morongo and Resort Hotel here Casinos in the California Desert.

Here is what we did not know and we can learn this together that Baldwin Park is home to the first the original In-N-Out Burger Stand opened there in 1948 and today there is and In-N-Out Burger Museum and Company Store because “that’s what a hamburger is all about”. Banning has an airport that runs right along side the Interstate 10 Freeway and it for small single and twin propeller aircraft so if you are interested in aviation see their airport here Banning, California Airport

Things to do in and around Baldwin Park, California.
Baldwin Park has .13 square miles of water area so we found where the water is and there is plenty of it at the Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area a park like setting with a lot to offer from a boat launch, picnicking, mountain biking, fishing, sailing, swimming at the swim beach and hiking that is more just like walking then hiking and there is children’s water play area. There is other water at the Baldwin Park Lagoon a truly natural setting to enjoy exploring around. The city has really great attitude and devotion to teen activities as you can see here Baldwin Park, California Skate Park as the city spared no expense.

Some Interesting facts about Bakersfield, California.
Bakersfield is at the southern beginning of the Central Valley our region 7 located along the State Route 99 for California and the area is a very large populated area for the region which is predominantly a bedroom community. This area is also well known for its very rich minerals being of course oil and a unique feature is a group of the people habituating the area Basque people (name derives from the Medieval French) the largest percentage of Basque people living outside of the Pyrenees Mountains and what are Basque people and where are these mountains? These great people come from Spain, France and Andorra.

Lets not forget that Bakersfield, California is home to one of America’s favorite dessert Ice Cream from Dreyer’s and they make the ice cream we all enjoy here in fact this picture is the company’s chief taster what a job tasting ice cream for a living wow.

Bakersfield is 100 miles north of California’s largest population city of Los Angeles, California and has its own airport the Meadows Field you can visit the airport here Bakersfield, California Airport and if you are interested and you love carrots then Bakersfield would be your favorite place because they are home to the largest carrot producing operations known in the world.

This is a great populated city to stay in then each day you can venture out to see agriculture and oil field history other then that there really is not much to offer. from Bakersfield you can visit lakes and rivers near by for fishing rafting and kayaking.
