Founded in 1878 when the San Pablo & Tulare Railroad came through the east of Contra Costa this city enjoys an agricultural feast as they have Harvest Season when the area produces corn and fresh fruit like peaches, apricots, plums, pluots and cherries oh Logic can taste them right now. This city is afforded breath taking mountain views of Mount Diablo (Devils Mountain).

Mayberry USA is what we see when it comes to Brentwood and this is in a positive way for the downtown the focus of our things to do along with the fresh fruit and vegetables grown in this city. Lets start with the downtown Brentwood project the chamber of commerce looks to be really involved with reviving the cities downtown as their web site points out (see chamber web site below). As well there is the city web site for Brentwood also talks of these plans so by 2010 we would want to visit the new downtown Brentwood.
There is the Brentwood Skate Park ok because the city has a heavy population and we are surprised to see this many paople living in the city of Brentwood.
The city of Brentwood has other parks and like all cities we write about have parks as well however given the amount of land to population ratio this city clearly has a large priority on parks and this is great with over 50 parks in a city with little over 11 square miles of area this is worth the mention as a standout a positive stand out for Brentwood. Logic was born and grew up one city away in Fullerton, California (ok interesting to me) however what we like most about Brea starts with the history of the oil and the oil derricks that remain in the Brea Canyon right off of Brea Canyon Road in the north end of the city these giant derricks are worth the visit as a kind of history of oil and in fact these were sold in the late 1800’s to a little known company named Union Oil Company better known today as Unical or Union 76 you know the gas stations with the rotating orange 76 ball. Brea was home to Union Oil until it was sold to another oil giant later.

Here is a city where you the city has a great and large mall with fine dining surrounding the Brea Mall even a really nice hotel is near the mall with a really great themed restaurant named Tut’s and an Egyptian theme however over the past decade or longer the city has been working hard to transform the downtown where Brea Canyon Road crosses Imperial Highway all right off of the 57 Freeway and just up past the Brea Mall there is an entire modern day very active village featuring 4 entire streets with shops 17 locations, dining 20 locations, theatre 2 locations, books, coffee even a famous comedy club all in Brea Downtown in fact this section of the city has a web site devoted to this named Brea Downtown sharing what you can do in Brea.

Brawley is located below sea level and is located just south of the south end of the State of California’s largest lake the Salton Sea. This is primarily a farming and agricultural city so you are going to the rodeo because if you happen to be in Brawley during the rodeo you are in for a treat here Cattle Call Rodeo. We suggest a trip to explore the Salton Sea a once in the 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s hot spot for boaters and recreational vehicles now today there is a lot wrong with the lake and our Desert Forum shares why under “What to do in the Desert”.
On a road trip
We encourage a trip up the State highway 86 and 78 the same highway you are taking to drive around the west side of the giant Salton Sea until you arrive at Highway 78 turn off turn left west we are headed just up into the hills a bit to Borrego Wells and near the Ocotillo Airport here County of San Diego Ocotillo Airport we are off to see paradise in the middle of the desert the fabulous Borrego Springs Resort even if you are not staying their you will enjoy a visit to the Borrego Springs resort and the city of Borrego Springs. The Sonoran Desert is really about being one with nature untouched by man for ever in most cases and we hope to excite the explorer in us all and make your own discoveries they are endless in the California Desert.

The city is also at the start of the Angeles National Forest. Most residents live on 2 and 5 acres parcels reducing population density.

Located at the end of the 605 Freeway just after it crosses the 210 Freeway you can from Bradbury head to Los Angeles cities, Universal City, the beach or off to Orange County but this is a city where you are offered the opportunity to explore into the Angeles National Forest.
